A sustainably built dune farm
The visitors’ centre has been built as a model of a 7th century dune farm. Remains of this farm were found in the National Park close to Groot Olmen. Solar panels, the collection of rain water and the sustainable use of materials are only a few of the sustainable applications in the design. Architect Dirk Vlaar of BBHD Architecten is responsible for the extraordinary design. The landscape architect involved was Kees Ykema and the exhibition design was done by Perspekt Studio's. Building the sustainable visitors’ centre was commissioned by PWN.
